3D Graphics and Anti-Bio-Terrorism:
A San Diego Perspective

with Dr. David Warner, MD, PhD
Mindtel, LLC

In the summer of 2000 the US Department of Defense staged Operation Strong Angel as the first U. S. military training for a humanitarian mission. At a simulated refugee camp on a volcanic plain on the Big Island of Hawaii, researchers learned that public health issues were the biggest problem they would face in a real mission. Mindtel Corporation of San Diego provided communications and coordination services for this operation.

In the summer of 2001 the Department of Defense embarked on the Magic/Discover project, to learn how to better respond to biological warfare attacks. Again on the Big Island of Hawaii a populace was interviewed by community workers with Palm Pilots, and the resulting infortmation was communicated by wireless to a central database and then visualized. Mindtel Corp. provided hardware and software for this mission.

Since September 11th the company has recieved contracts from the National Reconaissance Office (NRO) among others to expand its research into visualizing bio-terrorism threats in San Diego. Dr. David Warner of Mindtel will share some of this weeks-old cutting edge research with us.

As a special security precaution all attendees must present drivers license, state or military ID or passport.
